Employment formalities for foreign employees

　　 Step 1: Notification letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit application 

　　ION applies for notification letter of work permit, and then sends it to foreign employee. 5-10 workdays needed. 

　　  

　　Step 2: Z Visa or R visa application  

　　Employee needs to apply for Z visa (or R visa) in Chinese Consulate to enter China. 

　　  

　　Step 3: Accommodation Registration Proof  

　　Employee should apply for an accommodation registration proof by hotel or police station in 24 hours after arriving in Shanghai. 

　　  

　　Step 4: Health Check 

　　Check health in Shanghai health care center (Address: 15 Jinbang Road, Changning District, Shanghai. Need a reservation. Health report will be ready after 7 days) 

　　  

　　Step 5: Foreigner’s Work Permit application  

　　ION applies for work permit for foreign employees. 5-10 workdays needed. 

　　  

　　Step 6: Residence Permit application  

　　Apply for Residence Permit in Shanghai Exit-entry Administration Office. (Initial term 1-3 years and could be extended. Foreign employees can enter, exit and live in China freely within the term of validity. 5 workdays needed). 

　　  

　　Documents needed: 

　　1. CV 

　　2. Employment proof copies (Any document can verify work experience) 

　　3. Diploma copies 

　　4. No criminal records proof  

　　5. Health report  

　　6. Employment contract or offer letter 

　　7. Passport copies (include valid visa page) 

　　8. 2-inch half-length, and full-faced photo (8 sheets)
