This time we invite Yang Yang to give us a talk about interneuron. Now Yang is a postdoc in Poo Lab. She got her BA in Zhejiang University and PhD in Stony Brook University/Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. Her adviser for PhD is Anthony M. Zador. This is homepage of Zador Lab:http://zadorlab.cshl.edu/(Check it if you are interested). The following is the abstract of this talk, which is kindly provided by Yang.
Abstract:In the mamalian neocortex, although GABAergic interneurons comprise only 20-30% of cortical neurons, their diversity in morphology, physiology, connectivity and molecular characteristics is astonishing. Recent development of transgenic mouse lines that target different subtypes of interneurons facilitated research on neocortical connectivity, a major part of which was interaction among interneurons.

This journal club will focus on recent work on VIP, SOM(SST) and PV interneurons in mouse neocortex. Their orgins and properties, their interactions with each other and other types of interneurons and the roles they played in various behaviors will be discussed. Speaker: Yang Yang(Poo lab)
Topic: interneurons in mouse neocortex
