　　Below is a brief introduction(modified from Ju Cheng's manuscript):

　　As we known, autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) are a group of developmental disabilities characterized by atypical development in socialization, communication, behavior and interests. Although these diagnosis share some common features, individuals with these disorders are thought to be "on the spectrum" because of differences in severity across these domains. ASDs typically are apparent before three years old, with associated impairments affecting multiple areas of a person's life. The average autism rate is 1% or one child in every 110 in the United States.

　　Since Xiu Xu, a doctor from Fudan Children’s Hospitial, introduced some characterizations, diagnosis and treatment of ASDs last term, ASDs has been a hot topic in ION, and many students throw them into the research of ASDs. In order to understand the disease more, in this Journal Club, we will invite Jingwen Lv(吕静雯), a M.D. student from Children's Hospital, Fudan University, to give us a brief introduction about Autism. She will talk about the diagnosis and treatment. After that, Ju Cheng（程菊）, a senior student, from Zilong’s lab, will talk about the molecular and cellular mechanism. Then, we may have a discussion.

　　What’s more, Ju Cheng recommends us a movie called "Ocean Paradise", which tells a story that a father, with advanced liver cancer, tries his best to help his autistic son to learn basic survival skills before he dies!
